Endorsements for Claire Adler – Heritage Consultant

  • Claire Adler successfully guided us through our HLF application securing a grant of £1.2m to enable the development of the new Huguenot Museum. She worked brilliantly with our trustees, key stakeholders and the local community to research, plan and develop the museum’s founding principles, aims and objectives.

I would highly recommend working with her within the museum, heritage and learning sector.

    Hannah Kay, Director, Huguenot Museum

  • Claire proved to be an inspirational Activity Plan consultant for our complex HLF Kick the Dust project. This work required the development of a new and sustainable programme of partnerships and activities targeted at young people aged 11-25, including those most hard to reach. Claire directed a comprehensive programme of consultation with young people and stakeholders that informed a detailed action plan, deploying an impressive range of skills, including providing constructive and creative challenge to the project steering group.

Robin Hanley, Head of Operations and Learning, Norfolk Museums Service

  • Claire has offered the National Maritime Museum wonderful mentoring support in the development of our Endeavour Galleries. Our offer has benefitted from her perspectives and she challenged us to strive for greater quality. All done in a supportive collegial manner – helping us shape, shift and deliver excellence.

Mike Sarna, Director, Collections and Public Engagement at Royal Museums Greenwich, National Maritime Museum

  • The Electoral Commission has benefitted greatly from Claire Adler’s experience and approach. Acting on a glowing recommendation, we contracted Claire to support us in the development of an evaluation framework and targeted user surveys to determine the effectiveness of new set of political literacy resources we were developing for 14-18 year olds in the run to crucial Scottish Parliament and Welsh Senedd elections in May 2021. Gathering feedback from educators and young people was crucial in determining whether we’d met user need, as well as informing our future learning strategy. Claire’s considered guidance and expertise have been invaluable in helping us to gather meaningful qualitative and quantitative data to inform our decision making. Claire is collaborative, open and very supportive, and crucially works extremely hard to deliver results and ensure the details are right. Thanks Claire, we really appreciate the role you’ve played.

Tim Crowley, Head of Digital Communications and Learning, Electoral Commission

  • Claire delivered an excellent workshop aimed at librarians, archivists and those in related professions during which we learned more about the process of applying for Heritage Lottery Funding, and, crucially, how to understand our current audiences and work out how we can grow and develop them in future. The workshop was interactive with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and clarify our ideas on future projects, and a large amount of information was covered in a manageable way. I would highly recommend Claire as a trainer in this area.

  • Claire Adler worked with Norfolk Museums Service on the development of the Kick the Dust Activity plan and subsequent evaluation strategy to bring about Institutional Change. Claire worked with the team to identify appropriate yet challenging outcomes which would shift our practice over the life of the project and offered advice and support to enable us to move in the right direction. Her approach and professionalism enabled the team to embrace and bring about change across the organisation, something that would not have been possible had Claire not helped us to navigate this challenging topic. Claire was a pleasure to work with and was accessible outside of the perimeters of the project, which proved invaluable to myself as project coordinator.

Christine Marsden, Kick the Dust project Coordinator, Norfolk Museums Service

  • Claire has rewarded our trust as an excellent Critical Friend and ambassador for our national heritage project, TURNING POINT. The quality of her input has also proved invaluable for our organisation’s development. Claire is a passionate, inspirational, solution focused - and she’s not afraid to ask challenging questions. Sweet Patootee Arts and TURNING POINT have gained much from working with her. As such, I am really looking forward to the next phase of our work together.

  • Claire’s experience was invaluable at the early stages of the Marble Hill Revived project. Her research and the connections she was able to make with local community organisations outside of Marble Hill’s immediate vicinity – and the resulting outline activity plan that she created - helped English Heritage to ensure that the project made a real difference to many, many people who would otherwise never have engaged with the site. Now Marble Hill is a successful community hub with over 200 volunteers, well loved locally, and supporting all kinds of positive initiatives in West London.
